Cebu City motorists are being warned to comply with vehicle regulations as the Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO 7) prepares to strictly enforce rules on modified mufflers starting Monday, February 23.
The intensified crackdown comes under a directive from the Assistant Secretary to apprehend all motor vehicles equipped with non-compliant or altered mufflers.
LTO 7 emphasized that motorists found violating the rules will face apprehension and penalties according to existing laws.
Authorities also cautioned the public against being misled by social media posts, vloggers, or online groups offering tips or advice that appear helpful but may carry legal consequences.
The advisory stressed that those who spread such information often benefit from social media engagement, while motorists risk fines or penalties.
“Ikaw ang madakpan ug mag-penalty, samtang ang nagsulsol nimo nakinabang lang sa imong Like, Heart, Comment, Follow, and Share. Be a responsible motorist—follow the law!” the advisory stated.
Motorists are urged to seek guidance only from official LTO sources to avoid being misinformed.
The office reiterated that compliance with muffler regulations is part of broader efforts to ensure road safety and reduce noise pollution in the region.
LTO 7 reminded drivers that even minor modifications to exhaust systems could lead to legal action and urged everyone to regularly check their vehicles for compliance before hitting the road.
This enforcement campaign forms part of ongoing initiatives by LTO 7 to uphold traffic laws and maintain order on the roads while educating the public about responsible vehicle ownership.
