Floodwaters have begun to recede in Iligan City following the onslaught of Tropical Storm Basyang, but the scale of destruction left behind continues to challenge affected communities. Homes were damaged, streets were filled with debris, and daily life was severely disrupted across multiple barangays as residents began cleanup efforts and checked on neighbors.

Iligan City response teams from the local government, disaster risk reduction offices, and volunteer groups continued assessment, relief distribution, and recovery operations throughout the city.

Initial situation reports indicate zero confirmed casualties, although one reported death due to cardiac arrest remains under verification. A total of 21 barangays were affected by flooding and storm-related impacts. Currently, 4,697 individuals from 1,258 families are staying in evacuation centers, while authorities continue to account for residents in isolated barangays, including Bonbonon, Mandulog, and Kalilangan.

Preemptive evacuations were carried out in the barangays of Abuno, Tipanoy, Sta. Fe, Villaverde, and Saray, which helped reduce potential risks. However, only limited preemptive evacuations were reported in Mahayahay. Residents also reported unexpected flooding in areas from Poblacion to Roosevelt and Saray, described by locals as a rare and first-time occurrence.

City officials identified several urgent needs, including medical assistance, particularly for possible leptospirosis cases following exposure to floodwaters. Additional priority requirements include sleeping kits, hygiene kits, and a request for 10,000 food packs to support displaced families and affected communities.

Despite the significant losses, the aftermath of Tropical Storm Basyang has highlighted the resilience and unity of the Iliganon community, as residents, authorities, and volunteers work together toward recovery and rehabilitation.
