The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued Heavy Rainfall Warning No. 9 on Friday afternoon as Tropical Storm Basyang continues to bring widespread rains over large portions of the Visayas.
Under the Red Rainfall Warning, Guimaras and Negros Occidental are expected to experience serious flooding in low-lying areas and possible landslides in mountainous and upland areas due to intense and prolonged rainfall.
An Orange Rainfall Warning remains in effect for Bohol, Cebu, Siquijor, and Negros Oriental, where threatening flooding and landslides may occur, particularly in flood-prone and mountainous locations.
Meanwhile, a Yellow Rainfall Warning has been issued for Biliran, Samar, Eastern Samar, Capiz, Iloilo, Aklan, Leyte, and Southern Leyte. These areas may experience possible flooding in low-lying communities and landslides in elevated terrain.
PAGASA also reported that light to moderate rains with occasional heavy downpours are expected over Cagayancillo, Palawan within the next one to two hours.
The same weather conditions are currently being experienced in Antique, which may persist for the next two to three hours and could affect nearby areas.
Authorities advised the public, local government units, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (DRRMOs) to remain vigilant, continuously monitor weather updates, and take necessary precautionary measures as hazardous weather conditions persist.
The next weather bulletin is scheduled to be released at 5:00 PM today.
