Women aged 40 to 50 in Cebu City can avail themselves of free mammography services this October as part of the city government’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities.
Registration for the program runs from Oct. 1 to 15, while mammography services will begin on Oct. 5, according to Chief of Staff Kenneth Siasar of Mayor Nestor Archival’s office.
The program is intended for women who meet the city government’s eligibility requirements and is part of the annual Pink October campaign promoting breast cancer awareness and early detection.
Qualified applicants must prepare a medical certificate, barangay certificate of indigency, voter’s certificate and referral slip from the Cebu City Health Action and Medical Program (CHAMP).
Siasar said applicants may visit the CHAMP office on the second floor of the Cebu City Government building across from La Nueva to receive guidance on the registration process and documentary requirements.
“Visit the CHAMP office of the Cebu City Government, located across La Nueva, there on the second floor, so they can give you advice on what to prepare and what to do,” Siasar said.
Participants must complete the required registration and secure the necessary referral before undergoing the free screening.
Mammography uses low-dose X-rays to examine breast tissue and can detect abnormalities that may require further medical evaluation.
The city government advised interested women to coordinate with the CHAMP office before registering to confirm the requirements and procedures for the free service.
