Access to diagnostic services in Northern Cebu is set to improve with the opening of a new radiology center and the launch of mobile healthcare services, bringing advanced imaging and preventive care closer to communities.
The initiatives were launched through the opening of the Mendero Radiology Center and the rollout of Mobile Clinic Services of Mendero Medical Center Cebu on Sept. 25, 2026.
Public Health Consultant of the Province Dr. Elisse Nicole Catalan represented Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro during the opening, which was also attended by Consolacion Mayor Teresa “Nene” Alegado and Mendero Medical Center Medical Director Dr. Jerry Alinsug.
Catalan highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in expanding healthcare services and improving access to medical care across Cebu.
“The public and private sectors are partners in advancing healthcare in Cebu. We share the same responsibility: to help people get the care they need, with competence, compassion, and respect,” Catalan said.
The Mendero Radiology Center features a SOMATOM go.Top 128-slice CT scanner, which the hospital said will provide faster and more detailed imaging to help physicians diagnose and evaluate various medical conditions.
The center also offers digital X-ray, general ultrasound and OB-GYN ultrasound services, allowing patients to access multiple imaging procedures within the hospital instead of traveling to Metro Cebu.
Mendero Medical Center Hospital Administrator Resty D. Manlongat said the upgraded CT scanner is intended to improve the patient experience through improved image quality, AI-based positioning and remote scanning assistance for radiologists.
The consolidation of imaging services in one center is also expected to streamline registration and make access to diagnostic procedures more convenient for patients.
A mobile clinic was also launched to bring preventive and diagnostic services directly to schools, workplaces, barangays, families and other communities.
The mobile facility offers Annual Physical Examination Packages, Pre-Employment Packages and Comprehensive Health Check-up Packages, among others. Packages may also be customized according to the needs of communities, organizations and institutions.
Manlongat said the group made its pricing adaptable to help make the services accessible while maintaining service quality.
The opening comes after Mendero Medical Center Cebu was among the healthcare facilities affected by Typhoon Tino in November 2025. The typhoon damaged parts of the hospital and temporarily disrupted some imaging services.
Following rehabilitation efforts, the hospital said it has fully restored its radiologic imaging services while expanding its diagnostic capacity.
“2025 brought significant challenges, from the magnitude 6.9 earthquake to the devastating typhoon. Yet, through every crisis, we have remained resilient and steadfast in our commitment to providing quality healthcare, especially to communities with limited access to essential services,” said Dr. Samuel Mendero III, chairman and president of Mendero Group.
Mendero Medical Center remains the only Level 2 private hospital serving communities in Northern Cebu, according to the group.
The mobile clinic initiative also builds on the group’s history of responding to healthcare needs in underserved communities.
Mendero Group currently operates Level 2 hospitals in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, and Consolacion, Cebu. It also operates dialysis centers in Siquijor and Sogod, Cebu, with additional centers planned in Cagayan de Oro City and Misamis Oriental.
The group said the latest investments in Cebu form part of its broader development plans across the Visayas and Mindanao, including the upgrading of its 30-year-old hospital in Pagadian and the establishment of additional dialysis centers.
The initiatives are also aligned with the group’s efforts to support the government’s Universal Health Care program and the Cebu Provincial Government’s efforts to improve healthcare service delivery across the province.
