The Associated Press obtained details of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding from police information and a copy of a city permit, revealing that the wedding celebration will start on Friday, 5 p.m. (5 a.m. Saturday in Philippine time zone) and may continue until early Saturday morning (Saturday evening in Philippine time zone), at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
A spokesperson for Zohran Mamdani, current New York City mayor, said that the permit was approved by New York’s permitting office and labeled the wedding as a “Special Event at MSG.” The permit also authorized a pre-party celebration for the wedding, serving as a private rehearsal dinner with 100 guests expected to arrive on Thursday, 6:30 p.m. (6:30 a.m. Friday in Philippine time zone).
The wedding ceremony is set to begin at 5 p.m. Friday and may continue until 4 AM Saturday (5 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Philippine time zone), accommodating up to 1,000 guests.
Swift and Kelce’s wedding festivities are expected to lead to closures around the vicinity of Madison Square Garden, limiting pedestrian entry and restricting vehicular access. These closures sparked a conflict with the locals, especially some business owners who expressed concerns about potential revenue losses.
“If they can afford to buy the permits, they can afford this big lavish ceremony, why don’t they just buy out the local businesses instead of having us adversely affected?,” said Michael O’Brien, a business owner from across the arena.
Yet others remained unbothered, citing their admiration for Taylor Swift and their happiness at witnessing her marriage.
