P34 Million Calamity Aid Distributed to Earthquake-Hit Families in San Remigio

More than P34 million worth of calamity assistance was distributed by the Cebu Provincial Government to thousands of residents in San Remigio, Northern Cebu, whose homes were severely affected by the September 2025 earthquake.

The assistance distribution, held on Thursday, May 21, at the San Remigio Sports Complex, benefited 3,438 residents identified as having totally damaged houses following the destructive quake. Each beneficiary received P10,000 in financial assistance intended to help families recover and begin rebuilding their homes and livelihoods.

The initiative was led by Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro as part of the provincial government’s continuing disaster response and rehabilitation efforts for communities affected by natural calamities.

Also present during the payout activity were Vice Governor Glenn Soco, Provincial Board Member Nelson Mondigo, and San Remigio Mayor Mariano Martinez, who personally joined the distribution and expressed support for affected residents.

Provincial officials emphasized the importance of immediate financial assistance in helping families start anew after losing their homes to the earthquake. The payout was facilitated through the Provincial Treasurer’s Office in coordination with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.

The Cebu Provincial Government continues to strengthen its disaster response initiatives and provide assistance to vulnerable communities as recovery efforts remain ongoing in different parts of the province.
