Philippine Air Force Trainer Aircraft Crashes in Benguet, Two Pilots Injured

A trainer aircraft belonging to the Philippine Air Force crashed in a forested area in Sitio Cabuyao, Poblacion, Tuba on Wednesday morning, May 20, 2026, injuring two pilots onboard.

Authorities identified the aircraft as an SF-260 trainer plane that was conducting a routine navigation training flight from Fernando Air Base in Lipa City en route to Baguio City when the incident occurred at around 10:30 a.m.

According to police reports, the aircraft crashed into a forested portion of Sitio Cabuyao, prompting an immediate rescue response from local authorities and emergency personnel. Both pilots were reportedly found unconscious and injured at the scene before being rushed to a medical facility for immediate treatment.

The Philippine Air Force confirmed the incident and assured the public that an investigation has already been launched to determine the cause of the crash. As of posting time, authorities have yet to release the identities and updated medical conditions of the injured crew members.

The SF-260 is commonly used by the Philippine Air Force for pilot training and navigation exercises as part of its aviation training operations.
