A dog in Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City proved that sometimes, animals know exactly where to turn when they need help.
The dog, later identified as Chico, wandered into the barangay hall after becoming separated from his owner. Once inside, he warmly approached Barangay Captain Ranie Emperio, as if asking for assistance.
Barangay officials quickly posted Chico’s photo on social media in hopes of locating his family. The post soon reached Vince Estopa, a neighbor who immediately recognized the dog.
Estopa coordinated with barangay officials and confirmed that Chico had slipped out of his home while his owner, Joseph Beltran, was on duty.
According to Joseph, Chico sometimes gets lost because he tends to follow a female dog roaming the neighborhood.
“Chico got home safely and was reunited with his owner. Seeing them smile after all the searching was heartwarming. As a dog parent myself, that moment brought me genuine joy,” Estopa said.
Netizens were amazed by Chico’s smart thinking. Some joked that Chico must have been a barangay secretary in his past life, given how naturally he handled the situation. Others quipped that aside from asking for assistance, Chico was probably there to request his daily supply of chimken.
Indeed, help is just a wag away especially when you know which door to walk through.
