A performance built on daily hardship and street reality carried Tribu Maabi-abihon of Poblacion 3 to the top as it clinched the grand championship in the Ritual Showdown of Saulog Tagbilaran 2026 on Sunday, April 26, outshining 14 other barangay contingents.
The group, which centered its theme on the impact of rising fuel costs, particularly on the livelihoods of the city’s tricycle drivers, received P300,000, a trophy, and P3 million worth of projects from the City Government of Tagbilaran.
It also received an additional P8 million worth of projects from Congressman Baba Yap.
Tribu D’Mansasamazing of Mansasa secured second place with P250,000, a trophy, P2 million worth of project from the city government, and P7 million worth of project from Yap, while Tribu Ubujanon of Ubujan placed third with P200,000, a trophy, P1 million worth of project from the city, and P6 million worth of project from Yap.
Pundok sa nagkahiusang Cogonanon of Cogon finished fourth, receiving P150,000 and P5 million worth of project from Yap, while Tribu Tiptipanon of Tiptip landed fifth place with P100,000, a trophy, and P4 million worth of project from Yap.
In the Street Dancing competition, Tribu Tiptipanon of Tiptip emerged as champion with P300,000 and a trophy. Tribu D’Mansasamazing of Mansasa took second place with P250,000 and a trophy, followed by Tribu Dampasanong Hiyas of Dampas in third with P200,000 and a trophy.
Pundok sa Nagkahiusang Cogonanon of Cogon placed fourth with P150,000 and a trophy, while Tribo Ubujanon of Ubujan completed the top five with P100,000 and a trophy.
Mayor Jane Yap said the city continued the festival to sustain local activity and community spirit.
“We chose to continue this major highlight because it supports our local businesses and gives our people a reason to come together in hope and solidarity,” she said.
“This celebration is not only about festivities. It is also about community, livelihood and resilience,” Yap added.
Saulog Tagbilaran 2026 launched on March 16 at Tagbilaran City Friendship Park, marking the 461st anniversary of the Blood Compact. This year’s festival carries the theme “One Family, One City.”
